Update on the weather situation in Norway and possible delays

- Force Majeure

10. august

Update August 11th:

The situation this week is heading towards normal. Our distribution partners have worked well to make up for the delays. There are still some important railways that are blocked, but we are experiencing that our consignments are still being delivered in a satisfactory manner. We expect approximately normal distribution next week.

Update August 11th:

The situation continues to be challenging. Several roads and railways are still closed. All deliveries to the county of Innlandet are currently put on hold. We will be able to deliver to most other areas in Norway, but delays must be expected.

Our distribution partners do everything they can to ensure that our shipments are delivered as safely as possible and with the best possible precision. Additional costs related to the current situation must unfortunately be expected. We are still in a situation of force majeure.

It is, of course, uncertain how long these floods will last, but one must unfortunately also expect consequent delays for some time after the water level has receded.

We apologize for any challenges this will cause you as a customer. If you have questions related to your shipment, you are welcome to contact your local LEMAN contact who will help you.

Update August 10th:

Although the rainfall is now decreasing in most places, the situation is still very unclear in the whole of southern Norway. Flooding is now creating greater and greater challenges with regard to the road network. In the most exposed areas in the county of Innlandet and the valley areas in old Buskerud county, major delays must be expected as parts of these areas are inaccessible.

Railway lines connecting the central Oslo area with the western and northern parts of Norway are also affected. Goods are transported using alternative solutions which will cause delays. The situation is still considered force majeure.

It is, of course, uncertain how long these floods will last, but one must unfortunately also expect consequent delays for some time after the water level has receded.

We apologize for any challenges this will cause you as a customer. If you have questions related to your shipment, you are welcome to contact your local LEMAN contact who will help you.

August 9th:

Extreme rain has continued through Wednesday and is leading to closed roads and railways, and flooding in several areas of Norway. The situation triggers Force Majeure and we will have challenges with accommodating our fixed time deliveries. Our distribution partners are continuously working on alternative solutions in order to ensure our deliveries to the best possible extent.

Status now today at 14:30 is as follows:

  • Northern Norway will experience limited delivery and greater delays.
  • The counties of Møre and Romsdal, Sogn og Fjordane will not receive goods on Thursday 10 August 2023, as all roads to these areas are closed.
  • For the areas of Trondheim, Ringsaker, Viken, innland, Valdres and Hallingdal, there will unfortunately be delays due to closed roads and flooding.
  • Bergen and the surrounding areas will be delayed due to closed railway and roads.

We apologize for any challenges this will cause you as a customer. If you have questions related to your shipment, you are welcome to contact your local LEMAN contact who will help you.
